Running a small business is not easy at all, well that is not true, it is fairly easy until you need to hire your first few employees or put together a team or crew of people to help. Putting together the perfect work crew is impossible unless you are god. Not long ago, when the unemployment rate was 4.1% and there were no workers, my friend Bill, who owned a Hand Wash and Auto Detailing, said he had finally created the perfect work crew for his little shop.

They were pumping out cars and collecting cash efficiently. I asked Bill, what was his secret, as he had just bought the business from Steve, who had inadvertently run the business into the ground over about a 6-month period and was nearly bankrupt. It turns out Bill, who also has a bumper sticker on his SUV “real men love Jesus” indeed took that to a whole new level.

You see he hired Jesus to work for him on his lead crew, and of course, that is pronounced “Hey Zues” which is a whole other story, perhaps another article in itself. Anyway this attempt at divine intervention, was not the true story to Bill’s business success, rather he hired people who loved cars and liked to make them shine.

Today, Bill’s Detail Shop in Houston rocks and he is getting very popular with the Westside locals there. When traffic backs up, his shop is busier than a one leg’ed racket ball player. It looks like a fun place to work and that seems to make all the difference in the World, still it is a far cry from Heaven, but Jesus has found a happy home at Bill’s Detail Shop.
